The 24th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show were inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSS).
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is in charge of organising WETEX & DSS, acting on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and with the support of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. “At the Forefront of Sustainability” is the exhibition’s theme.
This year, WETEX & DSS covers 62,513 square metres and welcomes 1,750 companies from 55 countries, along with 64 sponsors, 32 partners, and supporting organisations. 20 international pavilions are also present at the exhibition.
Sheikh Ahmed was greeted by Matar Humaid Al Tayer, the chairman of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD and CEO of DEWA, and the founder and chairman of WETEX & DSS, in addition to other DEWA officials.
The Emirate of Dubai has developed into an international hub for the green economy under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
This has aided the UAE’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and strengthened the nation’s position as a global leader in this area.
The continued success of WETEX and the Dubai Solar Show attests to their critical role in securing Dubai’s status as a major international business centre.
In order to showcase their newest products and cutting-edge technologies and to take advantage of the investment opportunities offered by Dubai, one of the safest and most stable investment destinations in the world, the exhibition brings together major international companies with a focus on the water, energy, environment, and sustainability sectors – H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed said.
The number of WETEX attendees increased nearly tenfold between 2011 and 2021. This emphasises its status as the biggest specialised exhibition in the area. It offers a crucial stage for international organisations working in energy, water, environment, oil and gas, green development, and related industries to showcase their most recent approaches, goods, and cutting-edge technologies.
The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to provide 100 per cent of Dubai’s total power capacity from clean energy sources by the year 2050, are also supported by the exhibition, which also highlights the UAE and Dubai’s accomplishments in the renewable and clean energy sector to promote sustainability.
