Amidst surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the globe, doctors across UAE are advising citizens and residents to opt for 3-ply surgical masks for regular use instead of relying upon N-95 (even thought its 95% efficient against covid) and completely shun the fabric masks.
The health care specialists are urging people to wear masks in a proper way and have advised them to adhere to precautions even after four (4) doses of COVID-19 vaccine. They said that residents must take all the precautionary measures laid down by the authorities because fully vaccinated people too are not immune to the virus. The adherence to protocols is for the people’s own safety. The booster dose, however, has been recorded preventing severity in case of Omicron infection in the people. UAE recorder its first Omicron case in December 01, 2021.
As per reports, the 92% residents in UAE are fully vaccinated while daily Covid-19 cases have crossed the 2,700-mark. The number of deaths occurring daily by cause of COVID at the same time has remained below two for the robust vaccination campaign held across the country. There is significant scaling down in hospitalisation, complications, post-covid complications and deaths as well.
Israel’s ministry of health has lifted the ban from UAE and removed the travel restrictions and Emirates is said to resume passenger flights to South Africa’s Johannesburg according to an update posted on airline’s website but they will not carry any outbound passengers from Johannesburg due to current travel restrictions in action. Moreover, passenger operations of Emirates to and from Durban and Cape Town will remain suspended.
In addition to it, passengers travelling to UAE from over 12 countries will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR with a validity of 48 hours.
