Earlier, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil made an announcement that he will award 500,000 DH (1 crore INR) to the Kerala football team if it lifts the prestigious Santosh Trophy.
Kerala won the Santosh Trophy for the seventh time, defeating West Bengal in a penalty shootout (5-4) making it their 7th win in a row, Dr. Vayalil has announced that the team would be honored with DH 500,000 ( 1 crore INR ).
He tweeted, “What a great match! Congrats, Team Kerala, for raising the Santosh Trophy for the 7th time. Delighted to honor you with the Rs. 1 crore reward announced earlier. Well played West Bengal.
Dr. Vayalil kept his word and announced the award money on his Twitter account. On Friday, The team’s goal scorers were also awarded an additional 50,000 DH (10 lakh INR), and the presence of the captains and coaches from Kerala’s six previous Santosh Trophy-winning teams added to the occasion. Gold coins were awarded to the former captains and coaches.
